Date paste is the starter recipe for so many other recipes. It’s quick, simple and lasts in the refrigerator for a few weeks or can be frozen for longer storage.
1 lb Medjool Dates, pitted
1-2 cups boiling water
After removing pits from dates, put dates in a bowl and add boiling water until covered.
Let sit for 30 minutes.
Drain dates and reserve water for next step.
Add dates to bowl of food processor with blade attachment.
Run processor until dates are pureed. You may need to add a splash of the soaking water to loosen paste up.
Texture should be thick like peanut butter, not runny like apple sauce.
